Dan Peters, Founder and President of Picture This! Ministries, worked with editors, parents, teachers, and a host of other people, including his good friend and former Production Manager at Gospel Light Publications, Joyce Thimsen, to make changes he knew were in order. He explains it this way:

We are privileged to know how God has used "Picture This!" to positively affect so many people in its first fifteen years. The changes we've made to update and improve the program will will make it even more effective in teaching the scriptures to children and adults.

The new name, which more accurately reflects the kind of product presented, is The Picture Smart Bible. This name was suggested by one of our board members, Dr. Kathy Koch, president and founder of Celebrate Kids, Inc, who is an authority on how children (and adults) learn.

Changes in the script include more complete instructions  and additional Scripture references. We also removed Amercian slang that we had used in the first edition.

The drawings were improved. There are fewer words and the illustrations were changed to more accurately reflect our picture methodology, cultural adjustments to clothing, structures,

and symbology.

Although I included and gave some attention to the "Good News Starburst" in the first edition, God made it ABUNDANTLY clear that His Son should receive preeminence in every book. So, I made sure the Starburst (a direct reference to Jesus) appears in every OT book. I tried to be obedient to His Spirit in every book. (He often woke me up at night to show me how to illustrate a book. Still brings tears to my eyes).

I believe this revised edition more accurately reflects Biblical culture and is a clearer representation of the content of each book. The new revised edition is available as 3-hole punched pages ready for a binder, a CD, and downloads.

Translating Into Other Languages

"Picture This!" was never translated because the digital file (a PDF) was not “sandwiched” - the file was” flattened.” In the revision process, the Picture Smart Bible files have been done in layers, keeping the art separate from the text. Therefore, translating into another language is relatively simple and inexpensive. Currently it is only available in English. If you are interested in coodinating a translation please contact Dan.
